Our top 5 winter wedding trends for 2018
The weather has definitely started to get colder and couples all over Ireland have just got engaged or are thinking of getting engaged on the run up to Christmas. Any time of the year is a special time if you are getting a ring on your finger. Winter time is becoming increasingly popular to celebrate your big day and you cannot beat the romance of a cosy Irish winter wedding. In this month’s blog we are sharing with you our top five trends for Winter Weddings in Ireland.
- Hot Chocolate Bars
Imagine the beautiful smell of warm chocolate as your guests enter your drinks reception. Something sweet and filling to welcome them to your venue. Give them the option to add cream or marshmallow’s and it’s a perfect non-alcoholic alternative to mulled wine or prosecco. This is a great recommendation from Caroline, the Wedding manager at the Newgrange Hotel. We can just imagine sipping a hot chocolate beside the welcoming fires in the library bar!
Your wedding cake is usually one of the most photographed items of your big day! And when all of your friends and family are clicking away on their camera you want a cake that is looking as fabulous as you are. The naked cake has had its day- move over for the drip cake! This design is perfect for a winter wedding as it gives the feel of icicles on your cake and you can play around with your colours also. Bernadette Kennelly Cakes is included in the all inclusive wedding package at the Newgrange Hotel. Her award winning cakes never disappoint!
This is a bit of an odd one but it is taking the states by storm! If you are looking for edgy pictures on your big day then wearing a leather jacket over your wedding dress will definitely make an amazing shot. Especially in black and white! Its also really practical as it will keep you warm for those outside pictures!
4.Long sleeve dresses
Taking its lead from Megan Markle, the long sleeve dress is a huge trend for this winter and almost certainly for next winter. The long sleeve just makes your dress oh so classy and of course it covers up a multitude of sins- tattoo’s, pale arms if you aren’t into tan and you’re not worried about straps falling down or pulling up a strapless dress! Long sleeves and a backless dress is also very popular right now!
5.An all-inclusive hotel
Weddings have become stressful affairs and after the horrendous weather we had last winter, couples are rethinking their plans in regards to location and booking suppliers. Trying to organise a wedding venue, church, cars, photographers, cakes, bands, djs… the list is endless. The all inclusive wedding package has been around for a number of years now but hotels that provide this package are finding more and more couples going for it. It takes all of the hassle out of your hands and you know the hotel is organising all the suppliers on the day- they are reliable, come highly recommended and the hotel look after paying them and you just have one bill to pay at the end of the day! The Newgrange Hotel provide an amazing wedding package that includes all of these things. The band and DJ(you get a choice), the cake (you choose your style), the photographer (again you get a choice) and a candy cart! The price of your package reduces also if you have more than 100 guests! For more information click here.
